Ride your neighborhood (or race course) indoors
Indoor season does not have to be Watopia. You can recce next month’s sportive, ride the
street you grew up on, or do your commute from the garage.
VirtualRide uses Google Street View. Type a start and a finish, or tap two points on the
map. Connect a Wahoo KICKR or any Bluetooth smart trainer in Chrome. Pedal harder, the road
moves faster. $9/month.
Your street, not a cartoon island.
What people actually use this for
Neighborhood / nostalgia. “I want to ride where I used to live.” That request has
been sitting on BikeForums for years.
Race recce. Ride the sportive or gran fondo course before the day, so the corners are
not a surprise.
Famous climbs when you want them: Alpe d’Huez, Passo dello Stelvio, Trollstigen.
Quick starts exist. The product is still any road.
Winter commuting. Same roads you ride outside, without ice.
Winter commute. Same roads. No ice.
