Real-World Indoor Cycling on Actual Roads

“Real-world” can mean three things indoors: panoramic map imagery, recorded road video, or a simulated course built from geographic data.

Street View imagery

Broad place choice and recognizable roads. Best for exploration, local routes, and course familiarity. Tradeoff: still-image transitions and coverage gaps.

Filmed road video

Smooth scenery and strong sense of motion. Best when desired route exists in provider library. Tradeoff: you cannot freely choose every road.

Course simulation

Accurate gradients and structured efforts can work with simple visuals or maps. Best for training to course profile. Tradeoff: may not show road as it looks.

VirtualRide uses first format. It is useful for geographic connection, not a replacement for every workout, race, or video platform.
